Monday marked a momentous occasion in our department’s history, one that illustrates the bond of family and the enduring spirit of the fire service across generations. It was on this day, precisely 63 years ago, that Firefighter Richard Glanovsky signed the Tunxis Hose constitution that welcomed him as a full member of our fire department.

Yesterday, we witnessed a ceremony that echoed through time as Firefighter Joseph Kall, Richard’s grandson, penned his name in the very same book as he became a full member of Tunxis Hose.

Pride and emotion filled the parlors as Richard stood by Joseph in front of the constitution that they signed six decades apart. This was not just a passing of a torch from grandfather to grandson, it was a reaffirmation of their family’s dedication to the fire service and their shared commitment to the well-being of our community.

Richard, whose service began in a time vastly different from today, laid the foundations of courage, selflessness, and community that our fire department stands on today. Joseph steps into his grandfather’s boots with a deep understanding of the legacy he inherits, yet brings his own strength, dedication and vision to the role.

Their shared story is a testament to the enduring values that guide us: bravery, honor and an unwavering commitment to serve. This narrative resonates with each and every member of our department and underscores the profound impact our work has on our community and on each other.

To Richard and Joseph, we offer our heartfelt congratulations and our deepest thanks for your service. Together, we are more than a team; we are a family, united by our common mission and our relentless drive to make a difference.
